Spaced Out: Three Novels of Tomorrow
by Judith Merril and C. M. Kornbluth

NESFA Press is pleased to bring back into print three classic novels of
science fiction. Judith Merril's Shadow on the Hearth is one of the earliest
stories to focus on the everyday human effects of a nuclear war rather than
on the technology. Also included in this volume are the two stories written
in collaboration with C. M. Kornbluth-Gunner Cade and Outpost Mars-showing
the wide range of science fiction material that can be accomplished by
combining two very talented authors.
This new volume adds depth and completeness to our previous collections for
these two authors-Homecalling: The Complete Solo Short Fiction of Judith
Merril and His Share of Glory by C. M. Kornbluth.
Cover by William K. Hartmann, dust jacket by Alice N. S. Lewis
Edited by Elisabeth Carey and Rick Katze
Hardcover, 492 pp, 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", ISBN 1-886778-67-4 [978-1-886778-67-1],
July 2008, $29.00.

>From Other Shores: An Omnibus
by Chad Oliver

In NESFA Press' third Chad Oliver collection, we present his three best
novels-Shadws in the Sun, The Shores of Another Sea, and Unearthly
Neighbors. This "Alien Trilogy" deals with different First Contact
situations-each richly unique-and each dealing with the difficult choices
ordinary people must make in extraordinary circumstances. The selections are
introduced by George Zebrowski.
Chad Oliver was a unique voice in SF, touching his readers with a deft
combination of hard SF, anthropology, and a subtle, graceful style. A
well-beloved Professor of Anthropology at the University of Texas, he used
his anthropology background to explore cultural patterns: these stories
extend his investigation of humanity. They look at where we are, where we've
been, and where we may be going. They help us understand who we are-and why
we are that way.
As with the rest of the NESFA's Choice series, NESFA Press will keep these
volumes in print indefinitely.
Edited by Priscilla Olson
Hardcover, 403 pp, 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", ISBN 1-886778-566-3, January 2008,

Works of Art
by James Blish

James Blish is known for being able to handle a wide variety of topics with
appropriate styles. The eighteen stories and two poems in this volume prove
that statement. Ideas range from pantropy ("Surface Tension") to
faster-than-light communication ("Beep") to a Catholic view of the fall and
redemption of an alien race ("A Case of Conscience").
Introduction by Gregory Feeley.
Cover by John Berkey, dust jacket by Kevin Riley
Edited by James Mann
Hardcover, 510 pp, 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", ISBN 1-886778-70-1, January 2008,
