[nesfa-reading-group] Meeting on Dec. 1

I did indeed refer to Thurs. Nov. 30th. Seems I forgot the words to the ancient poem: "Thirty days hath September, April, June, and November..."
Unless SMOFcon is held  on the same weekend every year, I'd say we should go ahead with a Thursday meeting this year; otherwise, we should consider finding another night to hold the meeting that is close to our regular night, either the preceding Tues. or Thursday.
I still maintain that having our meeting on a different weeknight might be an interesting way to gauge, well, interest in holding this meeting on a night besides Friday.
Any thoughts?

Since November 31st is a joking way to refer to December 1st, I think you meant Thursday, November 30th.
The last RPG night scheduled is on August 25, so that is not yet an issue. If they want to compete with us, we can argue at the next business meeting.
I don't think we should move it too far from the first Friday (Dec 1), and I don't think Friday of SMOFcon is out of the question either. The only two people who spoke up about SMOFcon didn't show up *last* time either.

The issue is that the RPG group meets on one of the fridays you listed, Wes. In order to maintain our schedule, Nov. 31st seems to be the best pick, IMO.

Dec. 1 is not a problem with, but I am not SMOFing.  Have we decided to stick to Fridays? According to the NESFA calendar: Dec 1–3, 2017 Smofcon 35 in Boston, MA; & Dec 8–10, 2017 Anime USA 2017 in Washington, DC. I do not plan to go to either, but perhaps some readers do. Could it be sometime Dec 4 to 7??Wes    From: reading-group [mailto:reading-group-bounces@ lists.nesfa.org] On Behalf Of Gay Ellen Dennett

I would prefer to have the option of going to SMOFcon without missing a reading. More important, I think that scheduling a NESFA activity opposite a SMOFcon in the same city is not good practice.  /CHip

Cc: M M <shakespearsshade at yahoo.com>Does anyone have a conflict with Friday, December 1st ? Dave G. mentioned that some folks might like to go to SMOFcon, but I don't know of anyone that attends our meetings besides a couple of people that would object. So, any objections?  Mike S.______________________________ _________________
