[nesfa-reading-group] Reading and reviewing NESFA Press books

A suggestion was made at today’s business meeting that NESFA members (as well as others) read and review NESFA Press books. The members of the reading group were mentioned as possible helpers with this effort.

I’m not suggesting that the reading group to become the NESFA Press book review group. I enjoy (most of) the books we read, way we choose them and the people I get to discuss them with (you).

But I think it’s possible for the NRG to help get reviews of NESFA Press books out into the world. Maybe we could hold a 2nd meeting each month (3rd Friday?) to discuss a NESFA Press book.

But wait, there’s more. Someone, or a few someones, would need to write a review of said book. So our meeting would be a communal brainstorming session for the reviewer(s). James said he’d be interested in reading a NP book each month and I'm interested as well. I don't have time to write reviews, though.

A possible impediment is that, unlike the regular reading group books, we won’t be able to take any NP books out of the library. To participate, we’d need to purchase purchase the books we discuss. Though I believe everyone receiving this email is eligible for the NESFA book discount.

We’d need to work out a method for choosing the books we read and a way for us to get ahold of those books. Plus we’d need to make sure the book is reviewed. Let me know if any of you are interested in giving this a try.
