[nesfa-reading-group] I'm out.

Tasks:
- Pick meeting days. Every few months, look at a calendar to see if the
first Friday of a month is busy for some reason. (Real Holiday, NESFA
activity, etc.) If so, move the defauit "first Friday" to the next
Friday. *Arrange
for calendar(s) to be updated.*
- Pick books to read. We could change the plan, but lately we have
assigned each month to a person and asked them to come up with three books
for us to vote on. After each vote, *arrange for calendar(s) to be
updated.*
- Handle Zoom. Use the server to copy the link address and send it to "
reading-group at nesfa.org" each month. Remember to start the server on
each meeting day at 7PM.
- Handle mailing list. *Add new members.* Occasionally ask for the
current list to review. *Remove members when necessary.*
- Update Meetup to match the main calendars. (Liz and Richard
volunteered to help here.)
- *Update the "Latest News" entry on the NESFA website.*
- *Update the history lists. *Once books are proposed, they can go into
the "Ideas" list (if not already there). Once voted on, they can go into
the "Previously Read" list (even if they are "future history").
Does anyone remember anything not listed above?
For now, I will handle the bold items in the list above. If I don't plan to
be available, I'll tell you. If you really must get help:
- For help with the mailing list, send email to "postmaster at nesfa.org".
- For help with the two calendars (Events on nesfa.org and the nesfa
Google calendar), send email to "calendar at nesfa.org"
- For help with the website (including "Latest News" and the two history
lists, send email to "webmaster at nesfa.org".
Notes:
- Never send anything to Joel Lord. Send anything you think you might
want to talk to Joel Lord about to "postmaster".
- You can't generally use the "download", "modify in your own
environment", "upload" technique for any of our files.
- There are a few files lying in understandable places
in understandable formats, but you won't have access rights.
- Many files are Google docs that need to be maintained in place.
They can be exported to known formats, but the process of
replacing them is
clumsy and error-prone.
- Some files are buried in WordPress that again require access. But
editing WordPress files requires knowing WordPress, not HTML.
So, for now, manage group activities and Meetup. Leave the file, calendar,
and mailing list maintenance to me. Over time, it might be good to show
someone else (besides the postmasters and webmasters, who already know how)
how to play with the files, calendars, and mailing lists, but not today.
