[nesfa-reading-group] Latest News Section of the Website / Reading Group

Hello;

I am officially the head of the NESFA Reading Group.
I was not aware of the Reading Group entry under “Latest News”.
The Reading Group session has been listed correctly under “Events”.

I had thought that the documentation for people to find out about the Reading Group is the following:
Clicking on “NESFA Reading Group” block on https://www.nesfa.org/
leads to
https://www.nesfa.org/events/nesfa-reading-group/
which does not have the schedule, but refers people to the “Calendar” at https://www.nesfa.org/events/
where they can then look up the information for the Reading Group/
I thought it was done that way to simplify the web site maintenance.

Maybe the entry under “Latest News” should be the same; merely direct people to https://www.nesfa.org/events/
and have them look it up.
That way, the schedule of books and times only needs to be updated in one place.
Or, since there is already a block to click on for the Reading Group, and it occurs every month., does it need an entry under “Latest News”?

If we want to keep an entry for Reading Group in “Latest News”; I have examined the source code for https://www.nesfa.org/
and seen what I would edit to keep the entry up to date; if I could edit it and save the edited version wherever it goes; if I knew how and had the permission.

I also see where I could add text to https://www.nesfa.org/events/nesfa-reading-group/
to show the actual date and time of the next meeting.

Ideally, if someone wanted to find out about the Reading Group, they would only have to look in one place, and not be referred to the Calendar to find when it is. However, it seems to me that NESFA is running low on people with time to do things. To reduce the workload on NESFAns, it might be best to just refer to the Calandar.

I have made an entry on my calendar to Check NESFA "Latest News" and "Events" every week. This will be for what I know about, which is mostly the Reading Group.

webmaster wasn't supposed to do this. The head of the NESFA Reading Group was supposed to do it or have a helper do it. I just did it.

I'd already have done it if someone reminded me -- I have too many things to do to keep that in mind all the time.

Which goes for the whole "News" section. Several people need to review it regularly. Updating is trivial. Remembering to do it is nearly impossible -- at least for me. With NESFA Press, reading groups, two different musical groups with concerts coming up all over November and December, etc. etc.

Find someone responsible and make them review the website every week (or at least month).

Under the Latest News Section of the Website it says:

NESFA Reading Group

The next NESFA Reading Group discussion will meet via Zoom on Friday, August 2nd at 7pm to discuss 2054 by Elliot Ackerman and Admiral James Savridis

This needs updating. Do you want to do it or tell webmaster@ what to change it to?
